Family Fun December 28, 2012

We had a wonderful Christmas and continued spending time with family today. The kids, well Keeler, decided today would be a great day to play at Chuck E. Cheese and of course my kids were excited to meet him there. They had a great morning playing games and doing the Hokie pokey with Chuck E. The adults didn't want to eat Chuck E. pizza so we went to McAlisters. After lunch we got a rare opportunity to go shopping without any kids. Jakob and Jacey stayed with Pa Diddy while the little boys went to Mimi's to play with Bryon! We had a great time and I found lots of clothes for our trips. It is always fun to spend time with my mom and Kelley!

Rudolph and Narrator

Jakob and Jacey's Christmas program was today at school. Jacey was given the part of Rudolph and she did a great job and Jakob was one of the narrators. We always love to go to their programs to see what they have been working on in music. This year the Christmas program was changed from year's past. It is hard for me to even think about this been Jakob's last Christmas program in elementary school. It seems like just yesterday that we went to his first program. I have been thinking a lot about how different my life will be next year without kids at home during the school day. It is going to be a hard transition.

New John Deere Tractor

We were blessed with another good year in farming. This year the most exciting piece of equipment purchased was delivered yesterday. The kids loved getting a ride on the new John Deere 8260R.  It is so nice to live out on the farm now so our kids are able to see and help with the daily worked involved. Jacey was even excited to ride on the new tractor. Samuel was so excited he was not able to stand still so I could take his picture.

Pumpkin Carving

Another windy day in the Texas panhandle, so Jarret had the night off from cotton stripping so we made the most of the evening. We started by carving our pumpkins for Halloween. Jakob wanted to go with a traditional face. Jacey picked out a kitty cat pattern, it turned out very cute. Samuel lost interest after we removed the seeds. We finished the cool windy evening with chicken soup, hot tub, and a 3d movie, "Spy Kids 4."

Homecoming

This year on homecoming we had many firsts:
1. Jakob's first time to ask a girl to homecoming.

Jakob asked Lanie to homecoming this year. She is Nash's little sister. I was super shocked when I found out he had asked a girl. well he didn't actually ask her, his friend Hayden asked for him. Lanie's mom texted me to let me know he had asked her and I couldn't believe it. When I picked him up the first thing he asked me was "where do I have to take her?" So I don't think he actually knew what he was getting himself into. They didn't even talk to each other when we went to her house to deliver her mum in fact, Jakob had me carry hers in.

 2. Our fist time to take pictures in front of our new fireplace.
We always take important event pictures in front of our fireplace. It was exciting to take pictures in front of our new fireplace but at the same time it was sad. I love our new home but it still doesn't feel quite like home.

3.  Samuel's first time to wear a garter.

We had a mum/garter making party at our new house. We had Chrisee, Kelly and Cassie and their kids out to make them. We had a great time but I never knew it would take so long to make them, but they turned out excellent and it was fun to visit with the ladies while we made them. Samuel didn't wear his long but he looked handsome and so grown up.

4. Jakob's first time to wear a garter.

5. The first time Kelley, Keeler and Kallahan came to homecoming.
Kelley came for the weekend so she came to the homecoming pep rally so she could see the kids and take homecoming pictures for me. We loved having her and her precious little kids. Keeler told Jakob after the pep rally "that was the best FOOTBALL game I have ever been to."
6. The first time Homecoming was delayed due to rain.
Jakob and Jacey both had friends spend the night on homecoming. We went to the game and before the first quarter was over it started to rain. We were all send to the gym to wait but after waiting we decided to go to Brice and Chrisee's and wait there. We visited at their house until 9:00 and it was still lightning so we decided to head home. The game did resume at 9:30 and Claude won 18-7.
What an exciting homecoming. Glad this busy week is over and school can get back to normal and I am sure the teachers are really glad.

Touchdown!

My little quarterback scored his first touchdown and (his teams first) this weekend. He ran about 50 yards to score. It was so exciting to watch him outrun the other team. But we were all a little disappointed to find out that it was called back due to blocking in the back. I don't think it should have been called but we had a ref that was calling every penalty during the game. I am still proud of him!

On another note we have finally moved into our new home and I am excited to post pictures of our new house. Most of the rooms are complete but we still have some work to do and pictures to hang. It has been a challenge to adjust to living in the country. I spend about 1 1/2 hours driving my kids back and forth to school each day and two days a week I have to make an extra trip for football practice but it is worth the drive to have my kids in a fantastic school.

Our Little Cheer leader!

Jacey with Kinzie and Raelynn
Jacey went to cheer camp this week. She had a great time and hated for it to be over. I am surprised at how well she does as a cheerleader. She has great rhythm!

They cheered at the pep rally and also performed their dance!

Samuel and Daddy watching Jacey cheer!

They cheered during the first quarter of the game with the high school cheer leaders. She is growing up too quickly.

Corn Harvest Fun!

Corn harvest has officially begun! My boys favorite time of year is HARVEST! I took Samuel and Jakob and his friend Nash out after school to ride for a couple hours while Jacey was at cheer camp. Jakob would love to be out there everyday all day long during harvest. He is my farm boy. Jakob has loved to go with Jarret and ride equipment since we moved back to farm and he was not even 2. Samuel does not have as much interest yet but I think he will.

After cheer camp we brought out supper to the guys. It was a beautiful day and wish we could have spent more time out in the field but school comes first. The guys cut until about nine and then the corn tested too wet again so maybe tomorrow!

Kallahan's Birthday Weekend

My sweet nephew Kallahan turns one on September 19. It is amazing how quickly a year flies by, it seems like just yesterday we were in Garden City waiting for him to be born. Keeler and Kallahan are both very special to me and I was able to witness them being born-that is one the most amazing gifts!

We had a great weekend making decorations for the big birthday bash. His birthday theme was little red wagon. I helped Kelley by making a big one made out of a year's worth of snapshots of our sweet baby. It was fun to see how much he has changed in a matter of a year.

The party was a blast and we hated to leave, but we are looking forward to seeing them again on October 8.
